Mueller, Carolyn of Edina will be remembered by family and friends during a celebration of her life, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 13, at Edina Morningside Church, 4201 Morningside Road, Edina, MN 55416. Those attending the gathering are invited to share personal memories and stories of Carolyn. Carolyn died unexpectedly in the arms of her husband on Monday, May 11, from a pulmonary embolism. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Dana Powell of Edina, and four children, Lara, Peter, Eva and Rosa Mueller, all of Edina; parents, Frederick and Francene Mueller, Barrington, Ill. and four siblings, Eileen Mason, Marilyn Baldwin, Mike Mueller and Joan Cochrane. Carolyn was born in Elmhurst, Ill., and also lived in Libertyville, Ill., before moving to the Twin Cities in 1984. She found her greatest joy in her children and in education. Carolyn was a licensed marriage and family therapist, who enjoyed working with couples and families, most recently specializing in the field of eating disorder treatment. Earlier this year, she joined the staff of The Emily Program as a family services coordinator and brought much enthusiasm and expertise to her role. Carolyn was generous with her time, knowledge and experience, both in collaborations with peers and in serving as a mentor to many family therapy trainees. She earned the unfailing respect and trust of her peers because of her uncompromising fairness and decency. Earlier in her career, Carolyn was a counselor at Blake Upper School and also worked as an in-home family therapist for the Dakota County Parenting Program. She also worked with children at the Washburn Center for Children in Minneapolis. Carolyn earned her undergrad at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., and received her master's degree in counseling therapy from Adler Graduate School. She was working on her doctorate at Capella University, where she planned to write her thesis on ethical parenting. Carolyn will be remembered for her warm and giving heart. She was always there to lend an ear and provide support to those around her. She will be deeply missed. A private family burial was held Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 at Grand-View Park Cemetery in Hopkins, Minn. Memorials should be directed to the family. Published in Star Tribune on 5/31/2009 | |||||||
