Deceased Name: Stephen Charles
Lischka
Norman Transcript, The (OK) - June 7, 2012 Deceased Name:
Stephen Charles Lischka NORMAN — Stephen Charles Lischka , 59,
has died in South Carolina. Steve was born July 29, 1952, in San
Mateo, Calif., and left us for the perfect climate on June 1,
2012 in Charleston, S.C. Steve was raised in the Hawaiian
Islands and then Seattle. After serving his country in Vietnam
from 1969 to 1971, he left the cool Northwest for the wide open
spaces of Texas, where the construction was booming. He learned
the business from the bottom up. In 1987, he went back to school
and got his degree in construction management. He moved to
Norman in 1993 and, in July 2003, opened LL Retail Construction.
With his incredible staff, son, Garrett, and Nathan as his
right-hand, they built a strong company. His work ethic was his
greatest asset. The close relationships he built with his
customers and contractors were based on mutual trust, respect
and honesty. To say he lived life large would be an
understatement to anyone who knew Steve. From doing sun dances
in Bora Bora, to finding the back way into castles in Europe,
marlin fishing in St. Thomas or Costa Rica or just playing
blackjack at the Mirage … if an idea for an experience came to
him, he did not dream about it, he acted on it. He found his
little piece of paradise on a small quiet street in Charleston.
When he walked through the gate and saw the river flowing by, he
knew he was home. You will be dearly missed. Know that all will
be copasetic. No bad days. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Pat and Emery Lischka , and his younger brother,
Michael. Survivors include his wife, Glenda Hale; his children
Lindsey Ann Nicolescu and husband Carlos of Beaverton, Ore., and
Garrett McRay Lischka of Norman; the children's mother, Sheila
Kay Lischka of Destin, Fla.; sisters Catherine Anne Bruckbauer
and husband Dave of South Bend, Ind., Carol Marie Orlick of San
Francisco, Mary Christine Beaudoin and husband Louie of Seattle
and Monica Louise Lischka and partner Sherry of Sutton, W.Va.;
brother, Anthony Joseph Lischka of Seattle; numerous nieces,
nephews and in-laws from past to present; and an abundance of
friends and colleagues.
